A new maternity ward will soon be opened at the University Hospital of Libreville (CHUL) thanks to the Transformation Acceleration Plan (PAT) initiated by the Head of State, His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA. To check on the progress of the work, the Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Dr. Guy Patrick OBIANG NDONG and his Minister Delegate, Mrs. Justine LIBIMBI spouse MIHINDOU visited the site on the 8th of May 2023.
The Government member is delighted with the progress of the building that will host the said maternity hospital. Guy Patrick OBIANG NDONG then instructed to accelerate the activities, in order to finish the project by the month of June. “More than 90% of the equipment that was ordered has already been provided,” the Minister said, before he added that “the opening of this maternity unit will allow the CHUL to increase its capacity and considerably improve the care of the mother and her child.”

Built on an over-2-storey building, the new maternity ward of the CHU of Libreville will have a bed capacity of thirty beds, two operating rooms, a neonatal resuscitation room with ten incubators, as well as three resuscitation beds for adults.
