Jean PING, the Gabonese opponent in the 2016 elections, has officially announced to a French media channel that he will not be in the running for the presidential elections scheduled for August 26, 2023.
While his supporters were expecting a possible revenge in this electoral year for a candidate who claimed victory in the 2016 election, the aforementioned opponent, absent from the political scene for several years, has confirmed that he will not run again. “I cannot be a candidate in an election that is rigged in advance”, said Jean PING.
As the deadline for the candidacy submission is set for 16 July, a number of candidates have already confirmed their interest, including D’Ali BONGO ONDIMBA (Président de la République en exercice), Alexandre BARRO CHAMBRIER, Paulette MISSAMBO, Bertran NZIBI, Jean Boniface ASSELE, Gervais ONIANE, Jean Delors BIYOGHE, Marie Sylvie Hervo AKENDEGUE, Lasseni DUBOSE, R NDONG SIMA, Mick JOCKTANE, Marc MALEKOU, Albert ONDO OSSA, Pierre Claver MAGANGA MOUSSAVOU, Gérard ELLA NGUEMA et Abel NZONDO.
