On Sunday, July 9, Ali BONGO ONDIMBA officially announced his candidacy for the 2023 presidential election, to be held in August in Gabon. During his visit to the Nkok special economic zone, the Head of State confirmed his commitment to his country in front of the site’s workers.
At the head of Gabon for around 14 years, President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA was elected for the first time in 2009 and again in 2016. In a speech to his compatriots in Nkok yesterday, he announced that he would be seeking a third term in office, to continue the work started since 2009. “I am officially a candidate”, he said.
The politician, who describes himself as a very ambitious man for the well-being of his population, believes that he can be “reproached for many things, but not for a lack of ambition” for his country. “Impossible doesn’t exist in my vocabulary”, added the Head of State.
Ali BONGO ONDIMBA remains confident about the future, thanks to the positive results of his two previous terms and especially the contribution made by the Plan d’Accélération de la Transformation (Transformation Acceleration Plan) to the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.
