Significant progress has been made over the past 10 years to justify the undeniable determination of the Head of State, His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA, to make Gabon an emerging country. From words to deeds, his commitments to the well-being of his people are being implemented by the members of the government, working hard to achieve his different initiatives. A communication campaign entitled “Pour Vous” (“For You”) presents in concrete terms the achievements of the President of the Republic during his two previous terms.
“Pour Vous” is particularly focused on the actions taken by President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA in the fight against the high cost of living in Gabon, youth unemployment, health, education and roads.
The fight against the high cost of living is materialized by free urban transport through the Trans’Urb companies and the Société Gabonaise de Transport (SOGATRA) operational since 2020. The Head of State has also set up a national conference on the high cost of living in order to find solutions to help the population, overwhelmed by the rise in the price of the most widely consumed foodstuffs in the country since the advent of Covid-19. As a result, the prices of 67 food products have decreased.
To solve the problem of the employability of young people in Gabon, the actions taken include the reform of the National Employment Office (ONE), which has become the National Employment Promotion Pole (PNPE) to improve access to jobs. To do this, two types of integration were suggested to jobseekers. These include paid employment and self-employment. Such as the “one taxi, one job, one future” project, which has enabled 90 young Gabonese to become taxi owners. Furthermore, the public service competitive examinations have been reopened.
In the field of education, more than 3,480 classrooms have been built or renovated. These will welcome around 122,000 pupils. In addition, 3 vocational training centers, at Nkok, Mvengué and Ntchengué, are already operational.
The health sector saw the construction and renovation of about forty facilities throughout the country. There is also the reform of the National Pharmaceutical Office, which is leading to the availability of quality medicinal products in health facilities, to improve patient care.
Transport infrastructure, which contributes to economic and social development, has also been improved to facilitate the movement of people and goods across the country. 500 km of roads have been paved as part of the Transgabonaise project, which will link the country’s nine provinces.
All these achievements are tangible proof that President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA “does what he says, and says what he does.”
