In order to raise the level of national karateka, the Gabonese Federation of Karate-Do and Related Martial Arts invited the world legend of the said discipline, the British Wayne OTTO, 5th Dan black belt in karate, the winner of nine World Karate Championships, in Gabon from November 23 to 25, 2022. The man who holds the Guinness World Records for winning the most medals, worked with local athletes to help them develop their careers.

Gabon is the first country in Africa to set up a Centre for Protection and Social Promotion to care for victims of gender-based violence. Inaugurated on 24 November 2022, in Libreville, in the presence of the country’s highest authorities, including the Head of State, His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA and the First Lady, Sylvia BONGO ONDIMBA, it is placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.

Placed under the theme “healthy life”, the ninth edition of the Pink Month (October) campaign has mainly dedicated its activities to sports sessions and a good diet in order to reduce the risk of developing cancer. In Gabon, the Fondation Sylvia BONGO ONDIMBA (FSBO), which has been fighting this disease since 2013, has made the screening free of charge in all public health facilities in the country.

To show the world the beauty of Gabon’s biodiversity is the objective of Amazing Gabon, which is organizing a photographic exhibition from October 17 to 21 in New York, at the United Nations headquarters. The project was made possible thanks to partnerships with the Permanent Mission of Gabon to the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Water and Forests, the Sea, the Environment, in charge of the Climate Plan and the financial support of the Special Council of the President of the Republic, Permanent Secretary of the National Climate Council.
