The 19th National Dialogue has been bringing Rwandans together at the Kigali Convention Center on January 23, 2024, to discuss and find solutions to the crucial problems that the country faces. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, diplomatic representatives and other distinguished guests attended the two-day event.
Scheduled for January 23-24, 2024, the 19th National Dialogue Council in Rwanda focused on national development, unity and youth empowerment, but also on transport, service delivery, education and healthcare. All the different social classes of the Nation, including Members of Government, legislators, representatives of civil society, representatives of the Rwandan community abroad, local authorities, media professionals and the diplomatic community in Kigali took part in this important forum, organized each year, to give their opinion on the country’s social, economic and political situation.
Speaking at the beginning of the conference, Paul Kagame outlined the country’s current state and he also asked Rwandans to think about what hapended in the nation during the past 30 years since the Genocide. For that reason, the Head of State encouraged his citizens to work hard to improve the process of development in the country. “Over the last 30 years, Rwandans have demonstrated that a country and its people can rise from the ashes of genocide. That is why, as Rwandans, we cannot conduct business as usual, nor can we feel comfortable about anything. We don’t have the luxury where others work two hours and go to sleep; we have to work for ten more hours. Where others can afford to walk, we have to run to catch up,” he said.
Several measures and resolutions have been taken during this dialogue. These initiatives will significantly improve the living conditions of Rwandans and strengthen ties between Rwandans and their international partners.
