Joining the Commonwealth allows Gabon’s Embassy in London to become a High Commission and will be part of big discussions and a mutually supportive community of 56 independent and sovereign states. “Our country is ready to write a new chapter of its history. For the new generations of Gabonese, this represents an infinite number of promises and opportunities,” said his Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA, who did not fail to thank Patricia Scotland Commonwealth Secretary-General and the entire team for their enthusiastic engagement throughout.
Gabon was the 55th member to join the Commonwealth. Its candidacy was approved on 25 June 2022 during the organization Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
