Gabonese President, His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA will meet with his Chinese counterpart, XI JINPING, from 18 to 21 April, in Beijing, according to an official statement. This meeting is part of the strengthening and dynamization of cooperation relations between the two countries.
With diplomatic ties established for nearly 50 years, China, through this meeting, hopes that “Gabonese President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA’s visit to China will provide new impetus for the comprehensive and deep-going growth of China-Gabon relations, and generate new outcomes in the friendly cooperation between the two countries,” said the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Friday. This seems evident, as the Gabonese Presidency confirms that this meeting between the two political personalities will lead to the signing of several “bilateral agreements that will contribute to the consolidation of the legal framework for cooperation” between both nations.
Considered as one of the most important countries in Central Africa, Gabon has strong diplomatic, economic and political relations with China. Moreover, in terms of trade, China is Gabon’s leading partner, with exchanges corresponding to CFAF 2739.8 billion in 2022.
President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA will also meet with other Chinese authorities, such as Mr. Li QIANG and Mr. Zhao LEJI, who are respectively Prime Minister of the State Council and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
