Gabon’s membership to the Commonwealth is producing good results, as from 29 April, Gabonese citizens will be able to apply for a British visa from the TLSContact Centre in Libreville.
Before joining the Commonwealth, Gabonese people had great difficulty in obtaining visas for the UK because the British diplomatic representation for Gabon was located in Cameroon. Thus, to make the procedure easier, a service dedicated to the different requests will be opened two Saturdays a month at the TLSContact Centre in Libreville. This confirms the President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA’s statement on 25 June 2022, declaring that the country can now enjoy the numerous advantages offered by the intergovernmental organisation, especially on the economic, diplomatic and cultural levels.

“Good news, as a new member of the Commonwealth, from 29 April onwards Gabonese citizens will be able to request UK visas in Libreville”, said Professor Lee WHITE, Gabon’s Minister of Water and Forests.
With 56 member states, almost all of which are former territories of the British Empire, the Commonwealth is an intergovernmental organisation established on 19 November 1926, to facilitate trade of all kinds. It is led by King Charles III, who succeeds Queen Elizabeth II, who died on 8 September 2022.
