President Ali BONGO ONDIMBA and his French counterpart Emmanuel MACRON will organize an International Summit on the Environment in early 2023, in Gabon. A decision taken by the two political leaders during their exchanges, while taking part in the Conference of the Parties in Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Gabonese Head of State said he was “happy to catch up with Emmanuel Macron at COP 27 in Charm el-Cheikh. Gabon and France will act with other countries in a Partnership for Positive Conservation to fight climate change and preserve biodiversity”. Emmanuel MACRON underlined during his speech at this great climate meeting that Gabon, Colombian, the Philippines and several other countries will adopt “very concrete action plans” during the One Forest Summit, scheduled in the coming months. He adds, “This is the same type of initiative we want to take to protect the oceans, with a focus on the 2025 United Nations conference.”
