Initiated by the Foundation Sylvia BONGO ONDIMBA in collaboration with the Gabonese Ministry of Health, the Pink October campaign aims to raise awareness, prevent, mobilize, convince women to be screened for cervical and breast cancer. This year’s edition puts a special emphasis on physical activity and healthy eating.

Up to now, information on women’s cancers has been widely shared on the web through advertisements, news articles and short videos in Gabon. The majority of the country’s ministries and companies seem to have joined this campaign, which has allowed to screen 94,119 women and to raise awareness among more than 600,000 people, says the FSBO.
For the success of this initiative, the FSBO has provided the early cancer detection centers with ultra-modern equipment, while also supporting and encouraging the health professionals in all of the nine provinces of Gabon.
Female cancers can develop in any part of a woman’s organs, including the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries or breasts.
